Effective date: 14 May 2026 — Last updated: 14 May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Pin & Scale (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit pinandscale.com (the “Site”) or interact with our content on Pinterest and other platforms. We take your privacy seriously and have written this policy in plain English so you actually know what we do with your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect three categories of information:
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Email address — only if you sign up for our newsletter or download the free Pinterest Affiliate Toolkit. We collect your email through the Hostinger Reach plugin (an email marketing tool built into our hosting platform).
- Comments — if you leave a comment on a post, we collect the comment text, your display name, and the email you submit with the comment. Your email is never publicly displayed.
- Contact form messages — if you reach out via the contact form, we collect your name, email, and the body of your message.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs — our hosting provider (Hostinger) logs your IP address, browser user agent, and the URLs you visit. These logs are retained by Hostinger for security and operations.
- Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 (property G-8WFDG212V6) to understand which posts get traffic, how visitors navigate the site, and which referral sources work. GA4 uses cookies and may collect device identifiers and approximate location.
- Caching — our site uses LiteSpeed Cache, which stores temporary copies of pages to speed up delivery. The cache layer does not collect personally identifying information.
- Pinterest pixel — if we have the Pinterest tag installed (see Section 4), it records page views and outbound clicks for retargeting and ad attribution purposes.
1.3 Information from third parties
When you click an affiliate link and complete a purchase at a partner merchant, that merchant (or its affiliate network — Impact, CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, ClickBank, FirstPromoter) tells us that a sale originating from Pin & Scale occurred. We do not receive your name, address, or payment details from these merchants — only aggregate commission information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the content you requested (the free toolkit PDF, newsletter emails, replies to comments or contact-form messages).
- Understand which posts are useful so we can write more like them — using aggregated, anonymized analytics, not individual profiles.
- Improve site performance (caching, image optimization).
- Comply with legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests from regulators.
- Track affiliate-link clickthroughs so we know which programs to recommend and which to drop.
We never sell your email address or any other personal data. We do not run third-party display ads on the Site. We do not share data with data brokers.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Pin & Scale uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary cookies — WordPress session cookies that keep you logged in (admin only), comment cookies (if you check “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment”), and LiteSpeed cache cookies.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 cookies (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) that store anonymous identifiers used to measure visits.
- Affiliate-tracking cookies — when you click an affiliate link, the partner merchant sets a cookie in your browser so they can attribute the sale to Pin & Scale if you purchase. Cookie lifetimes vary by program (Amazon Associates: 24 hours; Hostinger / Bluehost: typically 30-60 days).
- Pinterest tracking — if the Pinterest tag is installed, it sets `_pin_unauth` and `_routing_id` cookies for ad attribution.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings or use a browser extension to block tracking pixels. If you do, some site functionality may not work as expected.
4. Third-Party Services We Use
We use the following third-party services to operate Pin & Scale. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Hostinger — web hosting and email delivery (via Hostinger Reach). Privacy policy.
- Google Analytics 4 — visitor analytics. Privacy policy.
- Pinterest — ad attribution + Rich Pin metadata. Privacy policy.
- Rank Math SEO — on-site SEO plugin; does not transmit visitor data off-site by default.
- Affiliate networks (Impact, CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, ClickBank, Amazon Associates, FirstPromoter) — each network places its own attribution cookies when you click the corresponding affiliate link. See their respective privacy policies.
5. Affiliate Links and Disclosures
Pin & Scale participates in affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link on this site (typically a `/go/` redirect) and complete a qualifying purchase, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The full list of programs we participate in and the legal disclosures around them are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
6. Your Rights
6.1 If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”);
- Restrict or object to processing;
- Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format);
- Withdraw consent at any time (for newsletter, click “unsubscribe” in any email);
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email us at the address in Section 11.
6.2 If you are in California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we have collected, to request deletion, to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do neither), and to be free from retaliation for exercising your rights. To submit a request, email us at the address in Section 11.
6.3 If you are in any other jurisdiction
We aim to honour reasonable data-subject requests regardless of where you live. Email us and we’ll work with you in good faith.
7. Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as we need it:
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Comment authors: indefinitely while comments remain on the site; deletion of a comment removes the associated metadata.
- Contact-form messages: retained for up to 24 months after our last correspondence, then deleted.
- Analytics: GA4 retention is set to 14 months on identifiers; aggregated reports retained indefinitely.
- Server logs: per Hostinger’s retention policy (typically 90 days).
8. Children’s Privacy
Pin & Scale is intended for an adult audience interested in blogging and affiliate marketing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data Security
We use HTTPS site-wide, strong password authentication for the WordPress admin, and Hostinger’s standard hosting security. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to industry-standard best practices.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices change or as required by law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Substantive changes may also be announced in our newsletter.
